The story of the Skaramuča family

ABOUT US

Skaramuča Family

The tradition of viticulture and winemaking of Skaramuča family is as old as the family from Pelješac itself. The true success story of the winery starts in 1992, when its founder, Ivo Skaramuča, was enabled to operate as a private grape and wine producer in Croatia.

Ivo Skaramuča was one of the founders of the private winemaking and viticulture in the Dalmatia region of Croatia and on the Pelješac island. Skaramuča is the proof of how with hard work, dedication, and love for wine, it’s possible to establish one of the most respected wine brands of Dalmatia.

FAMILY TRADITION

Unbelievable enthusiasm, supernatural power, a desire to create and work, and a belief in success adorned a man who made a small vineyard paradise out of the vast forest and stone, which leaves even the most enviable breathless. Ivo left an imprint on the Croatian and Peljesac wine scene. He changed the path of many new generations of winemakers and enabled his successors to continue in his footsteps.

His son Igor Skaramuča and daughter Ivana Anđelić continued the story of this Pelješac winery with immense respect for dedicated work and creation. Today the winery is managed by a team made up of Igor Skaramuča, Ivana and Branimir Anđelić. Together, they maintain vineyards, invest in new technologies, create new specialty wine collections and market themselves, contributing to the modern development of the winery.

Skaramuča Winery is one of the largest private winemakers in Croatia and the owner of the largest vineyard in the Dingač area.
The vineyards are located in prominent areas of the Peljesac peninsula, belonging to the Peljesac district and Dingač wine area. Vineyards on the southern slopes of Dingač cover an area of 20 ha.

Dingač is a premium red dry wine of controlled origin from the restricted areas of the Peljesac Peninsula. In 1961 the wine was protected by the Geneva Convention and became the first Croatian wine protected by law. It is obtained from the autochthonous variety plavac mali from the Dingač locality, on the steep southern slopes of the Pelješac peninsula.
